The FSC logo identifies products which contain wood from well-managed forests, independently certified in accordance with the rules of the Forest Stewardship Council A.C.

The
Forest Stewardship Council, FSC was created in Toronto in 1993, in response to the demand of some consumers and the confusion generated by the availability and proliferation in the market of forestry products, with different norms and criteria.

The objectives for the creation of the FSC were:

  • To set world standards of good forestry management.
  • To credit the certification programs for the forestry products originating in tropical rainforests, moderate and boreal forests, in order to guarantee the authenticity of the work carried out by these programs.
  • To promote principles and criteria for good forestry management, for its application and corresponding monitoring, as the basis for such a certification.

The goal of the FSC is to promote a responsible environmental management, which is also socially beneficial and      economically feasible.
